Life can be a bitch, a battle, wearing us out and charging us with tension, draining our energy and reserves.
This came to mind, this evening, when I was relaxing in the hot tub, listening to Justin Thompson, on Thunder Radio. Justin’s sound is very non-mainstream, down home, country. During that time, I completely forgot the day, and what I’d been working on, and dealing with. I found the tension, and pain, slipping away. When our time was up, I was ready to get back to the keyboard.
Release
I had forgotten the day. Now mine isn’t very busy, these days, as I’m retired, but I’m working on growing my platform, and I took a fall, on Monday, injuring my right shoulder, so pain is on going right now. I was worn, and uncomfortable, when I climbed into the hot tub.
Relax
During those short 20 minutes, the warm water, and the comforting music, allowed me to relax. I found the soreness slipping away, as well as the tightness in my shoulders. My mind quit “Blowing and Going.” I found peace in the music and the warm water.
Recharge
That little bit of time, “away” from the daily “grind,” allowed me to escape and my body and mind do what it needed to do to “heal” itself. That’s the recharge.
I sure wish I’d learned this back in my working days. I spent so much time worn out, tense, and unproductive. I just went through the motions of life and really didn’t enjoy living. That has changed.
With that, I’m setting up a page, “Release, Relax, Recharge,” with resources to help others do just that.
