Work to Live, Don’t Live for Work.

Dad would have been 82 today (Dec. 3, 2015). He passed when he was 63  the year that he said he was actually going to retire. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to enjoy much of it.

Dad was a workaholic. He “Retired” from IBM some years earlier, but immediately went back to work, at IBM, part time, almost 40 hours a week. Later he became a consultant/educator, and traveled quite a bit.

Dad always said that he wanted to learn to fly, and earn his pilot’s license. He never did. Dad also wouldn’t allow himself much time for fun stuff. He spent most of his time at work, preparing for work, or taking care of stuff around the house.

Dad worked very hard providing for his family and left my Mom very well off. Unfortunately, despite being successful, he didn’t really live. He had the means to, he just didn’t.

Don’t let life get in the way of living. Work to Live, don’t Live for Work.

I know that I’m not.
